Analytics or Web Analyytics is the measurement, collection, analysis and reporting of internet data for purposes of understanding and optimizing web usage.

Web analytics is not just a tool for measuring website traffic but can be used as a tool for business research and market research. Web analytics applications can also help companies measure the results of traditional print advertising campaigns. Web analytics provides data on the number of visitors, page views etc to help with market research.

Directories and Web Directories are the same thing.

A web directory or link directory is a directory on the World Wide Web. It specializes in linking to other web sites and categorizing those links.

A web directory is not a search engine and does not display lists of web pages based on keywords; instead, it lists web sites by category and subcategory

Keywords are the words or phrases that your potential clients type into a search engine like Google or Yahoo to find your services or products. Keywords are also used in SEO and SEM.

Links, Hyperlinks and External Links are the same thing.

Links take you from one web page to another on the internet. They are made from HTML code.

Overture is the search engine marketing program run by Yahoo. Here is the link to the Overture PPC or sponsored search or SEM program.

Page RankGoogle describes PageRank:

PageRank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page’s value. In essence, Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by page A, for page B. But, Google looks at more than the sheer volume of votes, or links a page receives; it also analyzes the page that casts the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves “important” weigh more heavily and help to make other pages “important”.

This means that other SEO companies offering thousands of links, may do more harm than good to your PageRank. It is not only the number but the quality or relevance of the links that matter. The Generator follows this thinking in our hand submitted and keyword rich link campaigns.

Search EnginesA web search engine is designed to search for information on the World Wide Web. The search results are usually presented in a list of results and are commonly called hits. The information may consist of web pages, images, information and other types of files. Some search engines also mine data available in databases or open directories. Unlike Web directories, which are maintained by human editors, search engines operate algorithmically or are a mixture of algorithmic and human input. Two examples of search engines are Google and Yahoo.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Optimization, Organic Search and Natural Search are the same thing.

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via “natural” or un-paid (”organic” or “algorithmic”) search results as opposed to search engine marketing (SEM) which deals with paid inclusion. Typically, the earlier (or higher) a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine.

Search Engine Marketing , (SEM), Pay Per Click Marketing (PPC) and “sponsored search” are the same thing.

Search engine marketing, is a form of Internet marketing that seeks to promote websites by increasing their visibility in search engine result pages (SERPs) through the use of paid placement, contextual advertising, and paid inclusion.
